Hey people! Lana10 here, reporting on Kyle Shewfelt, the Canadian
gymnast who made history for us!
In 1991, 6-year-old Shewfelt told reporters that one day he would
go to the Olympics and win a medal. Well, Kyle went beyond that dream
by snatching the gold medal and becoming the first Canadian to win any
medal in Artistic Gymnastics! I know everyone in my family was
extremely proud of this young man for making it so far!
Kyle also participated in the vault competition and placed fourth. In
my family's eyes, he had that bronze medal ripped from him in two
different ways. First, the vaulter who placed first did the exact
routine that Kyle had done, including using the Shewfelt, a vault move
invented by Kyle.
Next, the last vaulter fell on his final vault, yet
he still placed ahead of Kyle. I find this kind of unfair, but I can't
really do anything about that, so I'll just stop talking about it...
hehehe!
For my final act, I will indulge you with a funny Olympic story
that actually happened. My family and I were watching a volleyball game
during dinner one night, and one of the men served the ball way out in
the back of the court. The announcer reported that, "He served that way out back!" So I said, "He
served it Aussie style!" (Get it? Part of Australia is known as the
Outback and he served it 'out back'! I know, lame!)
Well that's all for now! Hope you enjoyed waching those Olympics!
