Can you believe it? School starts
either very soon or it's even already begun for you! Summer goes by too
quickly, it seems. But
I have some tips for you to make this school year
better.
The first topic I have is bookbags:
- It helps to have wide, padded shoulder straps, because narrow
straps
can
dig into your shoulders, which causes pain and restricts circulation.
Those thick straps can
prevent injury from your backpack, so grab one!
- Pack light -- you don't have to pack your room with you. Your
backpack
shouldn't weigh more than 10-20% of your body weight.
- If you have a backpack that has two shoulder straps, wear them
both. Only one can cause muscle pain and can increase the curving of
your spine! Ick!
- Pack heavier iteams toward the back rather than the front.
My next topic is school bus safety:
- Wait for the bus to stop before approaching it from the curb.
- Do not move around on the bus.
- Check to see that no other traffic is coming before crossing.
My next topic is good
studying habits:
- Create an environment that is conducive to doing homework
- Set aside a certain time for homework, and plenty of it -- it's
always better to be have extra time afterward than feel crammed!
- Establish a household rule that the TV set stays off during
homework
time.
- Close the books for 10 minutes every hour. Regular breaks are
important.
I hope I helped you guys.
