I wake up and pull the sticky gum
off of my face, flavorless,
hardened by the night's air.
I wonder if I have any left,
looking at the package,
the little sweet confections
wrapped in their thin plastic encasings.
Three left. Disappointed,
I run over and pop the rest of them
into my deep, craving mouth.
I chew. I work the bit of gum
between my stiff jaws
into a wad of soft heaven.
It easily slips between my wet lips
into a large pink orb,
as its smooth sides cave in
covering my face in a pinkish vale.
My fatigue swallows me whole
as I blow a bubble,
and fall asleep with bubble gum,
stuck to my face.
