Corrie ten Boom, a single Dutch woman who lived above her father's
watch shop during World War II, has a wonderful story to tell everyone
in her book, "The Hiding Place". In this book she tells about how her
life was changed during the Nazi invasion and occupation of Holland.
During the Nazi invasion, the ten Boom family members became leaders of
an "underground" operation that gave Jews food, clothes, and shelter.
Often Jews were taken to safety from there.
When the Nazis discovered their scheme, Corrie and her sister Betsy
were shipped off to one of the most notorious concentration camps in
Ravensbrück. Their only way to be comforted was to read a Bible
that they smuggled in. The sisters dispensed the gospel to fellow
inmates, which they felt always ended in one more saved person.
Sadly, Betsy died in the concentration camp. But Corrie was released
from the camp and lived on and told her story to the world! Her story
touched many people's hearts... even the Nazi officer who stood guard
outside the shower room at the same concentration camp that Corrie was
in!
I highly recommend this book! It will teach you that there is still
hope in even the darkest places and the most dangerous times.
