Personally, I think newbies need better treatment... to some extent. Now, one day I was walking around Whyville (I mean floating) and I went to the Pool Party. There, a newbie came up to me. Okay, yeah, that happens a lot. Usually they ask me about getting a face part from me, but today was different.

The conversation went like this:

Newb: Hi. (I thought hmmm, what face part does she want... eyes or hair?)
Me: Hey.
Her: I am new and poor, will you give me 50 clams?
Me: No, but do you have a salary?
Her: No, I just try to get money off ppl.
Me: Bye. (That's when I left the room.)

Fact is, all too many newbies use their appearance as an excuse to beg for money. We oldbies sometimes feel bad and give in. But I have a new/very very old discovery about how some people use our feeling bad for newbies against us.

When newbies ask for clams before saying anything, LOOK AT THEIR SALARY! It is on their City Record, which you can find on the bus menu. Someone I know in real life makes 80 clams a day in Whyville (more than I do) -- but she still asks for money!

These people still wear newbie stuff (like the clothes we donate to Grandma's) to play the whole "I am a newb please help me" scam.

So, my advice is, before lending out the dough, LOOK THEM UP!!
