Hey Whyvillians! Do you think the Whyville Times need a mascot? Well, I do. I think that the Times mascot should be a tree. I know it may sound stupid at first, but if you hear the reason, you'll know why our favorite newspaper should be represented by a tree.

Everyone knows newspapers are made out of wood, and wood comes from trees! Now do you follow me? Good, now we're on the same page! Here are some facts about our mascot friend!

Trees are known for being a main food resource for squirrels.
Trees keep our air supply fresh by absorbing carbon dioxide and producing oxygen.
Many people don't notice it, but they use and see trees everyday!
Trees provide food and shelter for wildlife.

Now that we know what trees are good for and what they do, here's a picture of our wilderness friend!

Well, I have to go now, but I'll leave you with a little poem: go to http://www.geocities.com/Athens/Atlantis/3260/larkin.html#trees to see it.
