Check out this week's issue to read the top three candidates in the current Senate Race. Hotboi764, Hiphop26 and Coconut26 earned the most votes over at the Platform Tool during the past two weeks. One of these folks will be your next Senator, so read their platforms and chat in the BBS to decide who you might want to vote for!
The Senate Debate will take place at the Greek Theater in the week of October 17-23, to help make your decision easier -- or maybe harder! Official voting will begin shortly after the debate.
You can now be sure who's a Whyville Senator -- they've got a note in their City Records, just like Y-mail Helpers and Safety Patrol members.
In other voting news, 50,000 votes were collected about the date of the Halloween Party. You chose October 30!! Time to get your spook on! Ask your friendly neighborhood City Worker for more details, if you can dig it out of them... mwhahahaaa!!!
Also spooky may be the disappearance of the Google ads from Whyville -- anybody wonder what happened there? Well, according to one City Worker, the price paid out for those ads "dropped dramatically," leading City Workers to decide they were no longer worth taking up the space on our site, at least for now. "We are trying to find out why this happened," said the City Worker, "and if the price goes up again, we might try them again."
In other news, there's now a limit to the number of charges you can use on each Ion Engine level. As one City Worker said, that's to encourage thinking, rather than folks blindly leading the test charge through the maze using dozens of charges packed along a path.
Meanwhile, Chaim over at the Ion Engine game has also been asked to speak a little more slowly -- he has to tell folks when they've used up all their charges (the current max is 10), so it helps if he's not quite so chatty!
The October 1 Trivia Hour saw clams won by lured, celinaliv and bprint66. Congratulations!
Veteran citizen Bracelet recently came across a bug at Akbar's that cost her 4,000 clams. Turns out she bid on a spot at Akbar's Mall to advertise her store more than a year ago. Her bid was very expensive, and she never had the clams until recently -- when the system automatically took her 4,000 clams.
There was two problems with this. One, a year-old bid probably should not be kept in the system. Two, and more importantly, Bracelet didn't have parts in her store anymore -- and so, though she earned a front-page presence in the Mall, her store didn't appear because there was no parts in it to show! Double trouble!
Thanks to Bracelet for reporting this error -- City Workers have now corrected it so that the system checks to see if you have face parts to sell before posting your ad in the Mall. Good stuff!
The Times Editor has recently been criticized for a few mistakes that have been published.
