I've noticed that some people do not consider fashion important in the
Times. What they need to understand is, fashion is about so much more
than trends!
When you walk into a room, the first thing people notice is what you
look like. Fashion to me is showing your personality through what you
wear. It's an image. You can deny it all you want, but everyone conveys
an image. Deciding what you would like your image to be is completely
up to you.
My goal is to actually write good fashion articles, so... please enjoy
these important tips to keep you warm and cozy while still
looking chic and in style!
Color Palate
* olive green
* deep burgundy

Jackets
and Sweaters
Long blazers are great! Try a
long blazer with three buttons with a tie. A tie with a jacket is very
important because it creates a waist.
Short, structured jackets. I
love them! You can pair them with a pair of jeans for a casual look, or
pair them with kakis or pinstriped paints for a more sophisticated,
dressy look.
Chunky sweater. Fuzzy, warm
sweaters are so cute! Be careful not to get a sweater that is too big
because it will make you look like you have no shape at all. If you get
a chunky sweater, make sure it's fitted.
Cardigan. Yes, my friends, the
'50s are coming back! Cardigans are fabulous. They look great paired
with a lacy top. Buttoned all the way up... or not buttoned at all.
Ponchos. Crocheted ponchos
look great with a tank top underneath.
Shoes
Round toe. Sorry folks, as
much
as I love pointy toes, they are out. (At least for fall.)
Ballet flats. They look great
with anything! They are a girly way to soften any outfit.
Track sneakers. If you are
going for a sportier, casual look, buy track sneakers! Pumas and
Kangaroos are great track shoes.
Patterns
and Textures
Tweed. If you were to buy one
item for the fall, tweed would be the thing to get! Tweed is an
essential. Tweed blazers, tweed jackets, tweed skirts... tweed is
fabulous!
Satin. Satin lacy tops look
great paired with a structured jacket. Satin sashes are terrific with
faded jeans or cords.
Velvet. Velvet jackets are
sensational for the fall!
Plaid. Plaid skirts and plaid
structured jackets are divine. A plaid jacket looks great paired with
any kind of top!
Polka dots. I love polka dots!
They are a fresh feminine take on a classic. From skirts to
jackets to even shoes.
Cordouroy. Cordouroy pants are
a
must have for the fall. They look good dressed up, or dressed down.
Argyle. Preppy is very in. For
those you don't know, argyle is a diamond pattern, as seen on golfer
polos. Argyle vests and argyle polos great for school.
Accessories
Broaches. Broaches look great
with any type of structured jacket. They add quirky character to just
about anything!
Satin sashes. I love sashes!
They make great belts with any type of pants
Leg warmers. Yes, you heard me
right... leg warmers! They look so chic with almost any shoe.
Well, except for sneakers.
Chandelier earrings.
Chandelier earrings are very boho. You can get them in great fall
colors!
Clutch hand bags. Clutch
handbags are bags that are small and you carry in your hand. Very
charming!
Pants and
Skirts
Long, flowy skirts. Short
ruffly minis are long gone! Long skirts a little past your knees look
great with boots and flats.
Pleated skirts. Pleated skirts
in tweed are very chic for the fall.
Cords. Cordouroy pants go with
anything. They are very traditional and very hip.
Trousers. Trousers are a great
way to look more sophisticated. Pair them with a great structured
jacket or even just a casual T-shirt!
Tops
Lacy camisoles. If you wear a
lacy camisole make sure you pair it with something more sophisticated
such as a structured jacket or a pair of trousers.
Long sleeve shirts on top of tank
tops. Layers are very in. Pair a boat neck long sleeve shirt
with an ordinary tank top for a fantastic layered look
Thermals. Long sleeve thermal
shirts look awesome with a denim or cordouroy jacket.
