Thanksgiving is a holiday celebrated by lots of people. In the USA, Thanksgiving in celebrated in November, but in Canada, Thanksgiving is celebrated on the weekend of October 10th and 11th.

Thanksgiving is a great holiday, but I think people have really lost the meaning of it. Most people, and probably kids in general, just think it's a day to eat turkey and yummy pumpkin pie. Oh, and don't forget that kids usually get the following Monday off of school and parents get the day off of work.

I myself never really cared about what Thanksgiving really meant, but I liked that I got an extra day to do my homework until I actually sat down and thought about it. The word pretty much gives the whole meaning to the holiday:

Thanksgiving. A day to give thanks.

So, Thanksgiving isn't just about the food you eat. It's about so much more.

The Pilgrims had their first meal to give thanks over on 1621. Thanksgiving didn't come to Canada until 1879. You should look up the history to find out more.

For those Canadians citizens who celebrated Thanksgiving two weeks ago, and for the Americans going to be celebrating their Thanksgiving in late November, when you sit down at your table to start eating, don't forget to give thanks not only for the food that you're going to be eating but for everything you have.

Lots-a-luv,
