I was just sitting in the Sun Roof one day thinking,"What chatrooms haven't
I visited in a while?" I started to name them off in my head. The Pool
Party, Sportsplatz, City Hall Auditorium, etc, etc. Of course, I went on for
quite a while, but eventually, it hit me. The Times Building!
This was a glimpse of the past. I used to hang out there with some of my closest
friends. We thought we were the coolest things for a very cool reason. Hardly
any one knew about the Times Building!
Of course, my first visit there was confusing. I wondered how the Whyville
illustrators had apparently added a "secret" room into the server,
and why. I grew to love the place and visited it often.
This place was different than other chat rooms. For one, it was almost always
empty and it was just... well... a drawing of a big building!
Things were remotely the same there. You could move around and whisper and
all the same chat rules applied. So I guess we thought it was greater than it
really was. But, this page had eye-catching links to click on, which opened
up to nothing else but Times articles. Dr. Leia's picture was also on the building.
I had to find out more about the purpose of the Times Building. You couldn't
go inside. You couldn't email the Editor from that page. What was its meaning?
I couldn't get this off of my mind for the longest time. I asked around, but
most of the people I talked to were confused. Then finally, I met the person
who put it all together for me. She told me the Times Building used to be a
building for the Times publishers and staff. Apparently, you could visit it
and go inside! Oh, how I wished it were still open today.
Recently, I've visited it and stayed there awhile, thinking about how I was
one of the only Whyvillians who knew where this place was. I considered myself
a true veteran... although I'm not sure why.
A few months ago, Sonner ran for the Senate and announced that he wanted to
open the Times back up! He got my vote in a heartbeat!
Well, I'm sorry, but I will not tell you where the Times Building is. I would
really like to help, but the fun is finding it... THEN experiencing it. I was
jumping for joy when I found this mysterious place that lay behind the other
chat rooms.
I have always kept it a secret for myself, and you should too!

Editor's Note: I'm afraid your anonymous source was a little
bit mistaken... when Whyville was first opened, the Times building was visible
in the background of the ever-present Whyville Square. (Everyone started in
the Square when you logged on, by the way.) We made a little chat room for the
Times, but actually making it so you could go inside never went beyond the planning
stages! Eventually, buildings like the grand City Hall needed to be built, so
the Times was "torn down" to make room.
