"So?" replied the blonde-haired Whyvillian. They broke into an argument, and that's when I really noticed how bad fashion discrimination is in Whyville. I began to think about it, and decided to take a closer look and get an interview or two about the matter. That is how this started.

I first went to Sector Y, because I knew there was bound to be at least one goth there, as there always is, though I didn't know why it was true at the time. Lucky for me, there was one goth. Only one. I asked if he was interested in being interviewed, and he said, "Sure, since I'm the only goth here." We began:

HotNcute5: What do you think of goths, like yourself?
Cgcnpad2: I don't think we are different from anyone else. We are separated because we believe in something different than you. We are teased in school because we don't belive in the same thing and I think that's a lot of bad against us -- hello people, it's called hazing!

HotNcute5: What do you think of preps?
Cgcnpad2: They are jerks because they tell us to go here because of the white skin thing. I have never done anything to them and, well, I would like it if they treated us like people rather than like aliens. That is all Ihave to say about them.

HotNcute5: Do you think other goths might have done something to them for them to be this way?
Cgcnpad2: No, I have a friend (no names) who has been on Whyville since it was made. He has been a goth the whole time, and he has never seen a goth do anything to anything to them. I mean, does anyone even know the definition of "prep"? It's preporatory, it means someone who goes to a finishing school or preparatory school.
Editor's Note: Cgcnpad2's friend must have started actually dressing like a goth in Whyville about a year after we first opened, because we didn't have "goth" parts in Whyville until folks could design them.

HotNcute5: Why do you think preps do that?
Cgcnpad2: I don't know, maybe they are just jealous of us.

HotNcute5: Some people think goths are high in power -- like punks who kill or something....
Cgcnpad2: No, we are just people who have had bad experiences and are depressed all the time (I am a real goth -- hehe).

HotNcute5: Thank you for letting me interview you -- I've never really had a conversation with a goth before and now I know the whole story, thanks to you.

Then I went to the Pool Party in hopes of finding a prep. A Whyvillian named 4evertrue complimented my hair. I asked her if she knew any preps, because I needed an interview. She replied by saying, "I'm a prep..." and we began the interview:

HotNcute5: What do you think of preps?
4everture: LoL. Well, they are misunderstood by a lot of people.

HotNcute5: What do you think of goths?
4everture: I think they are misunderstood, too. LoL. All people are cool. Like, I judge by the person, not by what they are.

HotNcute5: Why do you think preps force goths to Sector Y?
4everture: They did? Well, maybe because preps are a buch of jerks -- except me....

HotNcute5: Do you think goths did something for preps to not like them?
4everture: Actually, no. I think all preps don't like goths because goths are not them. Preps just want everyone to be like them.

HotNcute5: What do you think goths are?
4everture: I think they are just people. They just want to fit in with a group.

HotNcute5: What do you think they think of preps?
4everture: They think that all preps think about is makeup, boys and hair... and they think all preps are, well, jerks.

HotNcute5: If there was a goth who knew you were a prep, and began to make fun of you, what would you do?
4everture: I would talk to them and tell them that I am a person just like they are and I am a good kind person and not a jerk like they think I am. They shouldn't judge me before they know me.

HotNcute5: Well, it's nice to know your side of the story. Thank you so much for letting me interview you.

Now I know both sides of the argument, and I hope you do, too. I now know that not all preps are snobbish, and that goths just wanted to be accepted. World War One for Whyville? No one can ever be sure.
