Whyville City Hall was notified this week that Whyville is a semifinalist
in this year's GII awards to be handed out in San Francisco in December!
This award has been described as the Oscars of the Internet.
Last year's winners included Yahoo! and Thinkquest, so the competition is tough.
Vice President Al Gore, who was involved in starting this award, said, "The awards program
provides America with more than a showcase for innovation. The program is itself an
innovation - one that is important for our country's future".
You can find out more about these awards by going to the GII Awards official website.
As citizens of Whyville, we should all be very proud! City Hall has asked me
to thank each and every one of you, because Whyville just wouldn't be what it is today without
all these crazy faces, buildings, and rooms that we've all spent time creating.
Finalists will be announced in early November, so keep your fingers crossed and stay tuned
to the Whyville Times for further developments. If we do win, lots of people will be
visiting -- so we should all spiff up our houses and rooms!
