What is something Whyville City Workers and citizens have been looking forward to since the founding day? What can change the way companies and organizations look at our town? Which big news story in Whyville am I talking about?

Whyville has more than one million citizens!!!

A MILLION! That's six zeros we're talking, people! That's more than twice the size of the entire state of Wyoming! If we were all laid out in a straight line, we'd stretch 950 miles!

Have I made my point, or do you still need some more clarification?

It's just amazing that we have gained this many members in only five years. Interestingly enough, two other major online communities, Neopets and EverQuest, were started the same year as Whyville, and are still thriving today.

Me, I joined Whyville in early January this year, and the population was only in the 600,000s. I wonder what it's like to be the millionth citizen of Whyville???

Having this many members is not just a giant nifty number -- it's also a tool. People aren't all that interested in hearing, "Whyville has 9,985,271 citizens!" They want nice, big, round, important numbers. "The population of Whyville is over a million!!" is much more attractive to potential sponsors.

So what do we get with sponsors? Advertisements and money! What do we get with advertisements and money? A boat load of citizens and awesome additions to Whyville. Not only do our million citizens attract sponsors, but we are definitely more likely to get attention in the media.

Back here in town, a million citizens also means more customers for face part stores, more people to join safaris and Club Why, more Times Writers, more Trivia and Media Hour goers... and of course, more potential friends. I could go on forever listing everything else we've gained.

Reaching this incredible milestone is a sign to all of us that Whyville is continuously progressing, and will keep getting better with all of our help and optimism. Here's looking forward to the next million citizens and all they will bring!
