Many people have heard of AIDS/HIV, but not everybody knows that there is a
special day for this horrible disease. It recognizes all the efforts and strides
made to kill this disease before it kills those living with it.In addition,
World AIDS/HIV Day
brings hope and luck to the unfortunate people who have the illness. This day
confronts the fears of people who have or don't want to have AIDS/HIV, and tells
them that there will be a remedy to cure it, someday.
Many of us Whyvillians don't think we can make much of a difference, but we
can! Even reading this article will help you understand AIDS/HIV. If you do the
right things to keep from getting it, and help your friends know how to keep
from getting it, you're helping out a lot. Another suggestion is that you donate
money or volunteer time to hospitals where, as you read this, doctors
and scientists are working day and night to save the needy. Even on Whyville you
can buy the "Red AIDS Awareness Ribbon", a face part. Although it won't donate money
to the AIDS/HIV charity, it will show that you are aware. If someone asks you
want it stands for, you can help them become aware, too. The more we all know,
the better we can do to fight AIDS and HIV.
More than that, you can make friends with the people who have this disease
and make their last years memorable ones. According to an advertisement by NAT (National
AIDS Trust), you cannot get HIV from shaking hands, sharing cutlery, hugging
each other, drinking from a water fountain, using the same cup and (most
importantly) being a friend.
So go ahead make a difference!!!
And don't forget about World AIDS/HIV Day, which is held on December 1 every year.
