A Little Girl's Christmas Wish

by applegate
    Whyville Poet

A little girl woke up one day,
and from the light she did turn away,
For it was the break of day,
And the fifth of May.

But as the years went 'round
She never made a sound,
Mute was she, but still one Christmas wish had she,
for all she wanted was a voice, to tell the world of her choice.

Her Choice was clear,
Her Choice was bright,
And in her shown the Christmas Light.

She wanted for her sister a home,
Her brother not to be skin and bone.

One day her Christmas wish came true, and soon she said,
"I want my sister to be warm,
Loved and cherished in her home,
For my brother I want this,
A great big Christmas dish."

And so it came, for young and old,
A little girl whose voice told,
That sometimes the best gifts cannot be sold.

My Christmas Dream

As I dream of snow falling from the sky
I see old Saint Nick soaring high
While his Reindeer land on my roof
it seems that Cupid has hurt his hoof,
but Santa quickly fixes it
So Cupid decides to take a quick sit
Then Santa simply tapped his nose
and when I saw what had happened I froze
For Jolly Old Saint Nick had Dissapeared
That is why I had feared
but then I heard someone's feet on our squeaky floor
so that is why I opened my bedroom door,
and when I looked out I smiled
There was Saint Nick as he left presents that were piled
Then he walked to a table which had cookies and milk
and a tablecloth made out of silk.
He took a big bite out of a chocolate chip,
and the milk he drank left a stain on his upper lip
I knew he was soon to go
and then he would say Ho, Ho, Ho
So I stepped out into the hall,
and there I stood proud and tall,
and I said, "Oh, don't leave, Santa Claus"
That really made him pause
He was holding a glass ornament
the shininess made it look wet
It was him holding a cat
So I said, "You may have that."
He smiled and put his hat on my head,
& sent me back to bed
Then riding in his sleigh
He quickly flew away
Then I woke up to the sight of light
and promised I would never forget that night.
