So you think having glasses makes you look like a bookworm, huh? That's a nerd!?!
Well, take some advice from a girl that once wore glasses.
I'm a pretty smart girl in school (seriously!) and I thought all my friends
would make me feel like a nerdy loser once I started wearing glasses. The good
thing about having them, though, is actually being able to see!
On my first day wearing my glasses at school, two of my friends came over and
made me feel good. They said I looked really cute! Then about three months later,
I got contacts. Normally you have to wait six months to a year, but I'm a swimmer
on a team, so I pretty much needed them.
By then, my friends told me they were used to me wearing glasses already,
and that I looked funny without them!! For me, though, the contacts don't bother
me. They can just get irritated if you rub your eyes. I'm wearing them right
now, yes, at this very moment.
My cousins have worse vision than I do; same with my neighbors, but they got
Lasik eye surgery. It's expensive, but it means you won't have to go to the
eye doctor for a long, long time. (Eventually the surgery wears out, they say.)
But if your parents won't let you get contacts or surgery, don't worry. You
should get to pick your glasses, and there's lots of choices. I almost picked
pink and blue ones, but in the end I chose these really pretty ones. And always
remember, glasses make you look sophisticated!!
Well, I hoped I proved to you that glasses are chic, not nerdy. Unless you
have the ones from the '70s and '80s... hehe!
Catch ya later!!
