As I hope my friends know, my account was hacked about a week ago. This time, the scammer used a weird way of getting into my account.

I was just chilling at the Sun Roof when this person who looked like a cat came up to me and said, "Would you like this free account?" Of course I jumped at the offer and said yes! She told me the username and the password... but the password was HACKER. I should have known right away.

It's true, once she told me that password I started getting ideas about why she was just giving it away. I went on to the account and found that the password she had given me did work. So I went into the preferences and changed the password. I was all happy that I had gotten this good account, but what came next made me a lot less happy.

After looking through that new account, I tried to sign on to my regular account, Woodbine, but I couldnt get into it. It turned out that the cat person got onto my account just by offering me another account.

To this day, I wonder how she did it, but I still dont know. After a couple days of e-mailing city management, I got Woodbine back.

What I am trying to say is Never Take Another Account From ANYONE! If you do, they CAN get into YOUR account some way. Take it from me, because I had to go through it.

Woodbine

Editor's Note: Yes, there's more than one way to skin a cat... or steal a password. Not only should you not give out passwords, you shouldn't take them either -- there are dozens of ways to steal your password, your account and your safety. City Workers work non-stop to protect all Whyvillians, but the best protection is the one you can give yourself! Always follow the rules, and never mess around with anybody's passwords. It's just not worth it.

This author was very fortunate to get the Woodbine account back. More than likely, our author changed the new account's password from HACKER to the same password as on Woodbine. The scammer then went to the login page and had the new password emailed to him or her. Bingo presto -- Woodbine was stolen. There are many other tricks like these, and the only way to avoid them is to not play any password games ever.
