The dark shadow
Dances across the midnight sky.

What once
Was a beautiful white cloud
Is now
Completely engulfed in darkness.

In the distance
A shining black raven
Makes a call.

Its blood-curdling screaming
Can be heard for miles.

Its dark eyes,
Like bottomless pits,
Search,
As it searches through
The pitch-black night
For me.

It knows
I'm here.

Its eyes
Lock into mine,
Those dark,
Beady black eyes.

He stares for a moment,
Then,
As if banishing the dark black sky,
Takes flight,
As a new day dawns.

The black sky
Is
No more.
