I was terribly excited to go to parts-maker PUNKnPIE's official inaguration as senator of Whyville! This article WAS intended to contain pictures of the events, but our very own City Hall's schedule changed...

I logged on to Whyville right after I got home from school on Thursday, January 13, 2004. I was placed in my seat, right next to friend/Times Writer cobd at the Greek Theater. "coB" and I were both about 10 minutes early for the event, so we began talking about Times writing. It was a fun conversation, too (thanks coB!).

The time finally reached 2:00. Everyone was quiet, yet shaking (some even dancing) with excitement. I got my "print screen" finger ready for pushing. Everything was so nerve-racking!

Everyone waited for the props to pop up on stage, for the words to appear on the big screen, for City Hall to appear out of the blue like City Workers do... but they didn't.

Cobd and I looked at each other after a minute passed. I slowly removed my finger from the button. Why wasn't City Hall here?

After what I admit was a short wait (10 minutes), I gave my so-long's to coB, and left. It was 10 after with nothing left but the thought that City Hall had forgotten about us!

But the drama had only begun. I went back into the Greek Theater after about 20 minutes to find Whyvillians chanting "WE WANT CITY HALL...!" Threats of boycotts and more rang through the air. I felt pretty bad for PUNKnPIE myself, though she seemed more shaken by the citizens' response than City Hall's absence.

I went to see if maybe they were starting a hour later, perhaps? I found a seat in the crowded theater to only find scientist talking about the new Whyology surveys in Whyville. It was interesting, yet we all still wanted City Hall more than this.

I watched the scientist announce what would take place for citizens chosen to become "Junior Whyologists" and so on, but like I said, yes it was interesting, but I STILL wanted to know where City Hall was!

After the event was done, Whyvillians drained the room. I was depressed to STILL find no City Hall. With little hope, I waited, and waited. City Worker neutral, who had helped the scientist during the Whyology event, was still there, answering a few more questions. I glued my eyes right on the stage, hoping to hear about the inauguration and City Hall, only to find a message about it finally appear on the big screen: "Sorry City Hall forgot, we will reschedule this ASAP!"

I couldn't believe it! City Hall forgetting about something this important! I just didn't know what to say.

I logged off Whyville and quietly walked upstairs.

Wow! This cordless mouse sure is cool! *Sits on floor using new cordless stuff.*

Note from City Hall: Hello everyone! I'm glad to see you all are so excited about our political process here in Whyville! Wow, what a turnout, and what excitement!! That said, I'm sorry I missed it on Thursday -- my car had some trouble starting in real life, so I wasn't able to get to a computer when I had expected to. And normally I'd call another City Worker to go in my place, but wouldn't you know it? My cell phone died, too. It was a rough day. I was able to make it to Whyville about an hour later, and explain it to the folks in the room; I suspect I missed snikers00 by mere minutes! It's very unfortunate that CW neutral assumed that I had actually FORGOTTEN. I assure you all, from CW to citizen, I would never forget about my dear Whyvillians!! :) The good news is, we'll be having the inauguration this Monday, again at 2pm -- come join us to celebrate our Senators, and we'll also take a moment to remember Martin Luther King, the awe-inspiring American civil rights leader who is remembered in the U.S. on that day. See you all there!

Note from CW Bigfoot: I apologized to PUNKnPIE for CH about Thursday, and she wrote back, "No worries, it seemed the other people there were more anxious than me lol." :-D
