Hello, this is your official Times Photographer, FairyKiya, live from the "Meet
the Whyology Scientists" meeting at 3 p.m. Today, Whyologist katyakit
introduced herself and the new Whyology Survey.
She told us how we can sign up to become "junior Whyologists" and
what the survey is all about. If you want to sign up, you just need to print
out the form in the Whyology Room of the Why House, get your parents' signature
and your own, and then send it to the Whyologists in Los Angeles, California.
You can get clam bonuses and a free trial Why-Pass for participating!
For each completed survey, katyakit says we will get 50 clams. As for those
who already have Why-Passes, she said she has to ask City Hall about it.
Andrea96 asked what the information from the surveys is going to be used for.
Katyakit replied, "We want to know what you do on the computer and internet,
what you like about science, and what you know about science." This will
help teachers and other educators know how to use technology to teach science
to other kids in the future. Katyakit said that they also want to know these
things so they can make us more activities in Whyville!
If the form prints out in many pages, City Hall said you only need to send
in the ones with signatures. She said they are going to extend the sign up date
to January 21, as well.
And now it appears that people who participate in the Survey will get a hat
that looks like the WhyHat for the survey, sort of a "junior Whyologist"
beanie.
The audience at that meeting voted that the colors of the hat should
be green & blue.
But remember, you have to send in a consent form to do the survey! If you or
your parents have any questions about it, you can e-mail the surveyors at kafainsf@gseis.ucla.edu.
It seemed like a lot of people were now going to try and sign up! It was difficult
for the City Workers and katyakit to answer questions around 3:30, though, chat
kept lagging. At about 3:44, City Hall said it's time to start wrapping it up.
Everyone thanked katyakit for seeing us, and after that, it was over! It looks
like this meeting convinced a lot of people to sign up.
This is FairyKiya, signing off!
