A while ago, while I was poking around Whyville, I came across a group of Whyville
Artist-made hats. They included the WhyHat and the CW Beanie. And then I forgot
about them. I was recenlty reminded of my discovery when I saw the attractive
new Whyology hats -- I realized I had seen them before!
So I went back to the hats that had so mystified me earlier, and I tried to
interpret them.
This excites me. Look at it, children. It's a Getty beanie! (For those of
you who have been asleep, the Getty is an art center in Los Angeles. On November
21, City Worker Bigfoot announced that the Getty Museum was now in Whyville.
The museum is quite attractive, and it's the home of the ArtSets game.) Are
people from the Getty museum going to come to Whyville?
W.S.P. Ah, how cryptic. No Times articles contain those initials. WSP.org
is a water and sanitation program, so maybe they will come... and... sanitize
the Whyville water? Teach us about how water is sanitized? But it is a beanie,
and beanies tend to be official, like the CW Beanie, the Whyology Beanie and
the Getty Beanie.
Editor's Note: Yes indeed, this is an official beanie -- it's
the Whyville Safety Patrol beanie. This small group of citizens hand-picked
by City Hall has extended reporting tools based on their quality use of the
standard 911 report. The group hasn't gained new members in close to a year,
so it's not currently a significant force in Whyville's safety measures, though
a few of the original members are still active.
Well. This appears to be a very... flouncy... baker's hat. Was this part of
the Nutrition thing? Or maybe Whyville has a plot to bring a gaggle of mad bakers
to Whyville. Yes, that?s probably it.
Editor's Note: I don't know anything about that hat, but...
Nutrition may be having a comeback later this year. Rumors over at City Hall
speak of a new sponsor for the activity, with much greater support than before!
I'm assuming that this hat was a crown type thing for the Halloween costume
contest winner. I don't think it's still used. I've never seen Rebok, the winner
of the 2004 Halloween contest, wear it. And it's quite attractive. I would wear
it!
This mystifies me. Any ideas?
I see quite a future for this one. As announced recently, the CWs will be
returning the WhyHat to its rightful home in Club Y. It will become once more
a common sight in Whyville, and then, becase much of the allure of the WhyHat
is in its rarity, I believe fewer people will wear it. It will soon become
a "newbie" part again.
I wish the CWs would create a different hat than the WhyHat, actually. The
flouncy baker's hat would do quite nicely, or they could change the colors of
the WhyHat, to give us some variety.
Much love,
8Dyay8D
Editor's Note: As you can read in FairyKiya's report of the Whyology meeting, there will soon be another cap to join this bunch, a "junior Whyologist" hat in the shape of the WhyHat, but in different colors.
For our new citizens, I'd like to point out that the CW Beanie is the most official hat in Whyville. A bold yellow "CW" on this red beanie with silver propeller proudly proclaims its wearer is a City Worker. City Workers are adults who work for the company that runs Whyville, so they're great for getting help and advice from, and they will always look out for your best interests -- including keeping your password safe. No CW will ever ask for your password or offer you a "free" account. And if a person says they're a City Worker but aren't wearing the official CW Beanie, you don't have to believe them; it's part of the job to wear the beanie! :)
