Whyville Improvements

Hey hey Whyville peoples!

I've been brainstorming lately about what we can do to improve Whyville and make more people want to come. Please tell me what you think!

1) Newbie Center -- With the help of other Whyvillians, I'd like to make a newbie center!! I have two thoughts/ways of doing this:

  • I turn my house into a newbie center, make a brochure, and post times I'd be able to be there in person. Also, I can make a newsletter and answer Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) and answer letters from new people.

    OR
  • Make a new identity and have people donate clams. Then that name could have the house that newbies go to for help, plus the ideas I just listed. Also, with the donated clams, I can buy clothes and either donate them to Grandma's or keep them and give them out to people that request certain parts. There could also be a BBS category called "Help! Where are you when I need you, spazchick!" for instance, where people could post needed items and questions.

This is an enormous responsibility and I'll need some help!!

2) Whyville Elections -- My second idea has already been brought up by another whyvillian, and this disappointed me but I'll tell you about my idea anyway! I was thinking that we could have our very own Whyville presidential election or "city council". Citizens of Whyville could meet at a certain time to discuss different topics and problems that are happening in Whyville. It would be an official thing, with a city worker present at the meetings.

3) Birthday Party Ideas! -- Next, there's lots of birthdays happening, so why not have a party? Here are my thoughts:

  • You reserve somewhere in Whyville for a night, lets say the pool, for a few hours.
  • Only people on your invite list could attend.
  • Streamers, balloons, and banners could be sold at a party store.
  • You could somehow have your gifts be delivered only on the day of your party!
  • How about games, pinatas, etc?

4) Wishlist -- With the holidays coming up, instead of telling your friends what you want over and over, or them guessing, you could have your very own wishlist!! In the stores, I can picture a link under very item that says "add to wishlist!". There would be a way to access it anytime, and send a copy to your friends.

5) Stock Market -- How about a stock market? You could buy stock in Akbar's, other people's businesses, who knows?......

6) Folders -- Some of you probably saw my petition in City Hall - it isn't really a petition, but it's a useful idea. Basically, the idea was to keep face parts that you have that are out of season in folders. During Christmas, do you really need Halloween parts? Or in summer, do you need a jacket? How about storing them in folders?

7) Away Message -- Don't you hate how you get up for a second, and when you go back to your computer, someone's mad at you because you didn't answer? Away messages could solve this problem! Just like on AOL instant messenger, away messages help to not make people mad at you!

8) Follow Your Parts! -- When you donate a part to Grandma's it should say that you donated it. Instead of Grandma picking for you, it could have a chart where you can pick, let's say 10 parts, if you're a newbie. It would say what the parts are, and who donated them. That would be cool because you could search for the parts you donated and you could see who got them.

9) Whyville Thermometer -- Last, but not least, this idea is an inspiration from a website Baby2000 sent me! How about a thermometer? You could either enter your face (only if you wanted that is) into a "thermometer". Citizens would visit and rate your face on a scale from 1-10. It could be averaged up, to see the daily rate!! (Thanks, Baby2000 -- I can't WAIT to be king! lol)

Well, that about sums it up. These are mostly fun things, and I hope they actually do get put into use!! Thanks for listening!!

This is spazchick (me) signing off!!
