Good day fellow Whyvillians! As you already have guessed, I, CuTiE1612 am running
for the position of Whyville's next senator. I have been following each senate
race that Whyville has had and have learned the many things that happen throughout
the whole process. I feel like it is my time for me to voice my idea's out to
public and help improve our town that we call Whyville. I have come up with
a few ideas myself and have talked to several people about things they would
like to see happen to Whyville. Some of the same beliefs were ones that past
senators/candidates had, but I managed to find a few ideas that weren't used
before that I feel would help Whyville. Some of my thoughts are as follows:
1. Have you ever been invited to a party at the disco? Many of us have, but
did you ever forget about it because your friend booked it months or days in
advance and it accidently slipped your mind? I have a solution that may help
those with this problem. When you first log into Whyville you come upon the
lovely Welcome Page that our beloved neutral made for us. At the top of the
page you will see a "Whyville Events" calendar that shows the events
that are happening within a seven day period. Under the dates of some days you
will probably see an icon symbolizing an activity that will be happening during
that day, such as the Trivia icon. When you click on it you're directed
right to the place the event is held. Well, I would like to add a Disco icon.
When you're invited to a disco you should be able to add the icon to the
date of the party, so that it shows the date and time that it takes place. To
add to this idea I would also like to have a "Reminder" icon. This
reminder icon can be used any day at any time. The purpose of this icon would
be to remind you of any chores, homework, etc. that you may have to do. You
would have to add these yourself, so that when you click on it, you're
directed to a page where it tells you what you want to be reminded of. This
idea is educational because it helps create organizational skills.
2. Many of us have been to the Trading Post at least once. But, have you ever
been in a trade and wanted a particular part so badly, but the part cannot be
traded because the name of the part has symbols other than words, such as the
ever so popular wink smiley ";)". There may be more that prevent you
from trading that I'm not aware of, but I know this is a very common one.
I would like to change this so that all parts can be traded, no matter what
the name of them is. By fixing this problem it can help prevent scamming in
Whyville. Why would it help prevent scamming? Simple. Since you can only trade
the part by satchel, both you and the other person have to trust each other.
Either you give them what they want first, or they give you what you want first.
What happens when someone doesn't pay for the part? You get scammed and
lose those clams and parts. By making this idea happen we are making Whyville
a little safer for everyone.
3. You know that Whyville Map that we have on top of the bus. How many of us
actually use it? Not many I'm guessing. That's probably because the
only purpose it serves is to tell us the amount of Whyvillian's in each
room. Some of the spots on the map I have no clue what room they are, so I would
like to add a feature that tells you what room it is. For example: Let's
say Sportplatz. You want know how many people are in that particular room, but
you have no idea which spot it is on the map. The idea I have to let you know
which room you're looking for is when you scroll your mouse over a certain
spot, a little bubble will pop up telling you the name. Also, to add to this
feature, I would like a link added to each room on the map, so that when you
click that specific spot, you will be directed to that room. By adding these
features this might mean that the map will be used more frequently and it may
even help the newcomers of Whyville who are not sure of the whereabouts of each
chatroom and how to get there.
4. I have been talking to a few people who own a WhyPass and how great it is
that their parts don't expire, but they're having a problem with the
non-expiring parts. For those who own a WhyPass you probably know that you can
buy a maximum of 500 parts, including supplies for your house and projectiles.
500 parts seems like a lot, but when you reach that limit it doesn't seem
like a lot at all. You become quite attached to your parts and it's difficult
to find a part(s) to donate or give away. It's quite a nuisance not being
able to buy parts once you hit that limit, so I would like to raise that limit
higher if at all possible. Yes, you can have over 500 parts now, but in order
to pass that limit you must trade. You're not allowed to buy over 500 parts,
yet you're allowed to trade and exceed that limit. So, what's the
problem with buying more than 500 parts when you can just trade and have more?
Now you're probably thinking, ???but won't having more parts take
up more server space?' Yes it will, but if you buy a WhyPass you're
helping buy more server space. Also, while at a Meet the Makers Meeting once,
the City Workers were discussing the old non-expiring parts. They said that
these were the parts taking up space on their servers, not the ones that WhyPass
owners have.
5. Whyville consists of people from all over the world. Most are from the United
States and Canada. If you go to the Warp Wagon you will notice several pink
dots scattered throughout the United States that you're able to click on
and your directed to that place. If you haven't already noticed Canada
doesn't have half so many places to go to. As a Canadian, I feel that there
should be a wider variety of places to travel from the Warp Wagon. I'm
not saying that there should be as many places to travel as the United States,
but I would love to be able to travel to at least the capital of each province/territory.
If you have ever done the Solstice
Safari, summer of 2004 you had to estimate the time the sun rose and set in
your hometown. My hometown was not on the Warp Wagon map, so I had to use the
closest to where I live. This was not an easy task trying to figure out this
bit of information, for the closest place on the map was about three provinces
away. By creating new places to visit on the warp wagon, we not only get a few
more chatrooms, but we can learn information about each area.
6. By now you're probably saying, "What about server space?"
"Does she care about the server space?" "What about all the server
space her ideas are taking up?" Don't worry, I figured out a way to
help get much needed server space. We all know how the plots are taking up a
lot of space on the servers and people are against getting rid of them and keeping
them, therefore you can't please everybody. Since this is the case, for
those who want to help with the server space I propose to an option of deleting
your plot if you no longer want it anymore. Also, in the future I would like
to see plots expire after a certain amount of time. By expiring I mean you rent
the plot for a certain amount of time and then you no longer have it. The expiration
date (rent) will not be as short as the expiry date on face parts, but a little
longer. With the exception of the plots that already have been bought they shouldn't
expire, which is where my idea for the option of being able to remove your plot
if you no longer want it. I'd also like to add that if plots did expire,
they wouldn't expire for WhyPass owners which could be another WhyPass
perk.
I'd like to thank all who took the time to read my ever-so-long platform,
it means a lot to me. I would also like to thank everyone who helped me get
this far in the race! It certainly was not easy! I would love to become Whyville's
next Senator and make it a better place for us all. If I am not chosen to be
the next Senator, that's fine. The other candidates Rebok and babeeroxy
are excellent choices and have great ideas, so chose wisely! Thanks!

does not appear in the message?s sent from City Hall. I would like to fix this

This article is CuTiE1612's updated Senate Platform, based on one of the
top three chosen by Whyville citizens over the last two weeks. Post your questions
for CuTiE1612 in the BBS below. She may answer them, or City Workers may use
your questions for the Whyville Senator Debate, to be hosted in two weeks by
City Hall in the Greek Theater. You may also post questions for the Debate in
the Times Editor's "What's New in Whyville".
Rule number one: Keep it polite. Asking pointed questions
is one thing. Attacking is another, so please understand the difference. Overly
nasty posts can be 911-reported.
Rule number two: Stick with the candidate the BBS is about.
Don't rave about your favorite candidate in someone else's BBS, please. Don't
diss another candidate, either.
That's all! Now, let's get political!
