In the time I've been in Whyville, I have never witnessed a vacation for the
city workers! I've always been able to log on, with the exception of server
meltdowns.
I propose that we close off Whyville for a week and give the City Workers
a break. They have done so much for you -- why don't you let them take a breather
and let them do what they would like to do? It's only a week, I think you could
live.
If Whyville is your life, then here are a few things you may do in a week's
time.
Practice your face part designing!
Yes, you can do this. Open up a Paint program and practice making eyes,
shirts, whatever. Who knows, you might be the next big fashion designer!
Convince your parents you NEED a WhyPass by using PowerPoint presentation!
If this is your first time using Microsoft PowerPoint (tm), this could be a
great way to learn! Play around with it and make a slideshow presentation on
how you get and pay for a WhyPass, its perks, and how helpful 20 dollars is
toward improving Whyville. Live in Canada? Take a drive to the USA. We have
places that you can get 20 dollars. Or I guess you could just go to a bank and
have the money exchanged... or just buy it with your credit card, that could
be easier, but less fun than a road trip!
Pick a topic about science that is interesting to you!
When you have a topic, Google it, and then write a lengthy article about your
well researched topic. Submit it to the Times. The Editor will be grateful for
a worthwhile article, and so will the readers of the Times.
See there? No Whyville for a week? No problem! I think we could manage.
Love you, City Workers, and thanks so much!
Outgoing
Editor's Note: What a sweet offer, Outgoing -- thank you from
all of us at City Hall and the Times, but I think I speak for everyone when
I say one of our most favorite things to do is to work for Whyville. Most days,
it's a great great time we all have, I think. And we do take vacations when
we need -- it's nice to hear you don't notice, that just means that the team
keeps things rolling smoothly no matter who's off visiting family in Hong Kong,
or tromping through the Airondacks, or slurping pasta in Italy. Hey, wait a
sec... why don't I get vacations like that?? ;-)
Anyway, I think your suggestions would be great fun for any citizen to do,
in or out of Whyville. I hope people do indeed try them out... and heck, if
you really do put together a really snazzy PowerPoint presentation, why not
send it in to the Times to share with your fellow citizens?
