Right from the pit of your stomach, a scream can be called to its duties at
any time, anywhere. And to get to where the scream is heard, when it flies out
of your mouth into the east wind, this is the journey it has to take, before
it can help you call for help, or let somebody know that the big black bug in
the corner of the room frightens you.
There are thousands of screams born in your belly every few
seconds of the day. A lot are just extras, but plenty will be used in your life.
When a scream is born, it makes its journey up to your throat, where it can
be called upon and come to your aid without making you wait.
It takes a very long time for screams to make their way to
their destination. Maybe one scream will finally arrive every week or so. It
gets very crowded sometimes. In fact, boys produce a lot more screams than girls,
and, since many don't scream nearly as much, and extra screams are stored in
the throat, that is why boys have big Adam's apples, and most girls don't.
To get a scream out of your mouth, you simply blow air out
from your lungs. This will help shoot the scream farther out of your mouth,
so it can be heard from a farther distance. Also, the harder you blow, the louder
it will be. So, when air picks up a scream, you open your mouth and let it fly
out into the air.
A scream's body can stretch up to 10-20 meters in width. Once
you stop blowing, the scream will fade away. This happens because a scream needs
your breath to keep it up in the air, and, when you close your mouth, the air
you are blowing stops, obviously. Therefore, the scream falls to the floor and
dies.
If you scream too much, then all the little screams will go
on strike, and make a breathable wall in the middle of your throat to stop their
cousins, formally known as your Voice, from escaping your mouth easily. They
do this to annoy you. This lets you know that they mean buisness.
Show the screams that you, too, mean business. If they don't
stop, flood them with liquid so strong that they will not be able to hold their
place -- get some sore throat medicine and drink it up in the right amounts.
Once you do that, the 'Throat Cops' that live in the medicine will destroy the
wall of screams.
This is usually a very rough battle, so your throat will swell
up for a little bit, but don't worry. As long as you're taking it right, there
will be enough room to breathe, even if it's not enough to let the Voices out.
It will often take a few days for the swelling to go down, but at last your
Voice will be able to yet again escape your mouth.
So make sure you don't get those screams mad, or you're in
for it!
