Myville Streets Paved
How you can explore Myville in ten minutes or less

So much to do, so little time. That's what Whyville citizens may be saying to themselves when they discover that it is now possible to walk through the streets of Myville. Only the occasional rough spot at the edge of the road leaves any sign of all the hard work that made this possible.

With so much to do, it can be a little bewildering to try to find one's way through the Myville district. Nevertheless, once you get used to the lay of the land, travelling from one place to another becomes a very simple task. We encourage you to get familiar with the map as soon as possible.

In order to get moving, use either the mouse or keyboard commands. The red arrows allow mouse fans to maneuver by clicking in the arrow direction they wish to go. Personally, this editor prefers using the keyboard when trying to get to a specific place quickly---like to my house---and using the mouse when I'm not in a hurry. If you rapidly click or press an arrow two or three times before the next screen loads, you can "jump" several spaces at once.

At first, it's very confusing when the screen blanks out after you've clicked to move somewhere, but it doesn't take long to get used to. If you turn, the screen will wipe out from one side to another; go forward, and it will wipe from the center. Walking backwards, of course, will reverse the forward wipe---going from out to in.

Perhaps on your first trip to Myville, you might try visiting City Hall---that's just one right, two forwards, and a right from where you start. You won't be able to go in to the building, but it's nice to look at.

Once you find a house you'd like to know more about, all you need to do is face it and press a forward arrow. This will bring you to a screen showing the house and the owner. Make sure that you're really facing the house, however. You'll know you can enter when the forward arrow is replaced by a "Go In!" prompt. Keep in mind, in the future, you'll actually be able to go inside and visit with your fellow citizens, just like in the Thursday and Friday chats at Dr. Leila's patio!

Explore the town yourself and let us know what you think! We may even publish your comments in next week's paper. Email the editors at times@whyville.net to express your thoughts.
