Many people consider majoring in music when they go to college. Others undoubtedly
think that it's boring. After all, when many people think of jobs in music,
they can only think of one or two non-celebrity occupations, where little money
is earned; however, there is much more to musical occupations! People have become
FAMOUS because of music!
Below are three interesting career choices, and TONS of people have become
famous because of all three.
Composers are authors of music pieces. These include symphonies, operas,
sonatas and popular songs. They write music by organizing the basic parts, such
as rhythm, harmony, tone and melody, to make it all flow. Most composers use
pen and paper to write down the notes, though computers are getting more and
more popular. They play these notes on instruments to check the sound sometimes.
Composing is a great example of a music career.
Singers share emotions through music. They have a special knowledge
of harmony, voice production and melody. Singers sing (obviously), and they
are usually classified by the type of music or according to their voice range.
They must learn how to control vibrato, tone and pitch near perfectly, understand
music terms, and it must be easy to understand what they are saying. Singing
is a popular career in music.
Arrangers take original music pieces (usually composed by other people),
and copy down or alter the music into certain styles. They prepare the music
for choral groups, bands, orchestras and individuals. Tempo, volume and the
mix of instruments are all parts of an arrangement. Becoming a music arranger
requires a lot of work experience and training in musical theory, performance,
composition, etc. Musical occupations are not always easy. Arranging is an obvious
example of that.
Majoring in music would be very interesting, and many musicians love what
they do. I hope that this article has improved your outlook on music careers!
