Has your password been stolen?
In the New Year's Mega-Issue of the Whyville Times I saw many articles
saying, "Oh my, I've lost my account!" I myself have never had problems with
hackers and what not. Here is a list of things that might help you defend
yourself from hackers.
Choosing Your Password
- It's best to choose a password that you will not find in the dictionary.
- To make your password harder to guess, use letters AND numbers.
Minimizing Your Chance of Hackers
- Don't tell anyone your password!!!
- Change your password every week, month etc.
- Don't tell anyone your password!!!
"Why are 1 and 3 the same?" you might ask.
Andy109 replies, "Telling your password to someone gives that person 100%
chance of getting into your account."
Miscellaneous
- If you are afraid of forgetting your password, you could write it down or
give Whyville your email address so they can give it to you.
- If you are a hacker, I'm sorry (yeah right =D) but as a Whyvillian I am
trying to help my fellow Whyvillians in keeping this place safe.
- You might not want to keep so many clams with you, so hackers won't have
so many clams to steal from you. That might lead you into running out of
clams, but that's better than getting lots of clams stolen from you.
I hope that Whyville will be protected a little bit more after people read this article.
Signing off,
