We see these people everywhere around Whyville. They all yell, "FREE Y-PASS MAIL ME!!!" and then when you mail them and ask what you have to do, BAM! They ask for your password.

I am here to warn you, do NOT ever ever EVER fall for these quick and easy scams to hack into your account. These people try to assure you that they are not hackers, but they are, each and every one of them.

I have interviewed a few fellow Whyvillians who have been scammed this way. Each one asked to remain anonymous.

Cutie2228: Can you please explain to me what happened???

Anonymous1: Well, there was somebody giving away free Why-Passes. So I Y-mailed them. They asked for my password, and for some unknown, stupid reason I gave it to them. One hour later, I logged back into my account and all my clams were gone!!! I had been saving up for a year. I had logged in every day and collected my clams. I never touched any of them. I had 25,000 clams, and they stole them all.

Cutie2228: And how many clams did you lose when you were hacked?

Anonymous2: I had been saving up for a month. I had 1,000 clams and was about to sign up for Club Why. Then I saw somebody "giving" away "free" Why-Passes. So I gave them my password and they hacked me and took away all my clams.

Cutie2228: And approximately how many clams did you lose?

Anonymous3: I had been saving up for two years. I had well over 50,000 clams. I stupidly gave away my password and they took away all 50,000 clams.

So as you can see you can loose all your clams with just one little scam. So I warn you now before you do it: DON'T GIVE AWAY YOUR PASSWORD FOR THIS SCAM!!!

Editor's Note: Thanks for your article, cutie2228. In the future, all authors who interview someone who wants to be anonymous, please include the anonymous people's usernames in a note to me, the Editor, as part of your email. It won't be published, but I need to know that the people you're interviewing are real and you really did talk to them. I don't mean to question cutie2228's interviews at all, but the fact that they were anonymous reminded me that this is an important principle in journalism: Always tell your editor where you're getting your facts from. It's very helpful in many ways.
