I lie in bed
Glaring at my window
There's a loud crack
And a blinding white glow
The rain pounds the roof
Lightning streaks the sky
All I can do is lay and wait
For the storm to pass by
I can't take my eyes off the window
What's behind the curtain?
Rain? Hail? Tornado?
I can't be certain
I stare at my window
Lightning lights my room
I reassure myself
The thunderstorm will end soon
I roll from side to side
My hair in a tangled mass
I wish the thunderstorm
Would hurry up and pass
I admit, I confess
I'm afraid of thunderstorms
I will always be and always have
From the day I was born
Now that the thunderstorm
Has silently crept away
I drift into dream land
And there I shall stay
