Some ask me if I'm black or white,
I really don't know what to say.
If only I had more choices to choose from.
For now I'll say I'm grey.

Grey? What kind of color is that?
To some it seems so dull.
But to me I know it's the color
That makes me an individual.

Why must we live in a world
Where we are catergorized by our skin tone?
Why can't we just be recognized
By the way we act and choose to be shown?

Why can't we all just be seen
By what we do and say?
You see this it why today I choose
That I am going to be grey.

Grey is the shade I feel
In the society where I live.
I feel sad and dull right now
For reasons some can't forgive.

I'd like to be seen as a nice bright red.
It symbolizes passion, energy and love.
Or maybe I'm sophisticated,
And should be a deep olive.

So the point to this whole poem
Is to let you realize
That a person should be recognized
By who they are inside.

Don't be the color
In which you've been told.
Be the color
Of your mind, and soul.

Now I feel I can change to yellow,
And be the color of joy and play.
I'm happy and full of cheer,
Since I said what I had to say.

Now it is your turn,
Go live the life you choose.
Be full of lots of colors,
Reds, greens, oranges and blues.

Shining bright yellow like a star,
