In the light of last week's descriptions of Hindu weddings, I would like to talk about a kind of wedding in my own heritage, Irish!

In Irish weddings, the bride carries herbs and flowers under her veil to symbolize fidelity, and spices to scare away the evil spirits. Naturally, they also carry flowers for their beauty!

Unlike many brides, the Irish put their rings on their middle finger of the left hand. In ancient Celtic times, it was believed that this finger's vein went directly to the heart. Most citizens of countries in Europe still put their rings on their left hand.

Another strange and unusual part of Irish weddings is that the cake traditionally was a very important part of the wedding. At the end of each wedding, a thin loaf of bread was broken over the bride's head as a sign of fertility. Weird, huh?

Also, in Ireland they wear claddagh rings, which are like engagement and wedding rings. That's a lot of rings! LoL. These mean "I will always be there in your heart. And you will be in mine."

In researching this, I really learned a lot about this stuff. Cool!

Ah well... I have to go boil a pinecone so it burns now. Bwahahaha.

This is ps2man1, turning the oven to full heat.
