Why the Banners Went Down

by Lilly2000

As most of you noticed, the banners in the Square were removed back on January the 18th. The banners were changed to say, "All banners have been removed until Whyvillians stop fighting."

Wow! How harsh! But this teaches us a little lesson. It's not the end of the world, but it is one of our privileges taken away, and for good reason. I see fighting everywhere, newbies being made fun of, people being mean to each other for revenge, password stealers, and in real life, it's everywhere! The other day I was going home from school when my friend unzipped a boy's back-pack as he was leaving and all his books fell out. Everyone makes fun of that boy, and that didn't make it any better.

It's okay to tease people as long as they know it is all in good fun, like when I pretend I am mad at my friends, because they know I'm only joking. But when it gets out of control, like people threatening to beat people up, or in Whyville, people threatening to take passwords, that's bad. I think that we should all team up and if we see anyone being made fun of, we stop it from going too far.

Think before you talk! I know sometimes that is hard to do because someone will get us really mad and we can't quite control our anger. But try!

Don't be mean to people who already get made fun of, how would you like it if someone did that to you? I know how they feel, people make fun of me sometimes and I hate it.

Please don't be mean to people if you can and help us stop those people who just can't get enough of making fun of others. It's just not nice!

Remember the golden rule: Treat others as you would like to be treated and if you make fun of people it will come back to you ten times worse!

This is Lilly2000 signing off!
