Many of you certainly have heard about the recent terrorist bombings in London. For those of you who live thousands of miles away from what happened, you're probably asking yourself, how does what happened there, affect me? Why should I care? Well, here's why.

Although you don't live there, or maybe even know anyone there, others do, and in someway or another, everything that happens, somehow affects you. With all the terrorist bombings and activity since 9/11, you're living through history. It's good to know what's going on, even though it's not taking place around you. Years from now, all of this will be included in History books around the world, and your children and grandchildren will want to know. You will be able to tell them about it, as your parents and grandparents have been able to tell you things.

I have no intention of forgetting 9/11 and everything that has happened since, From the planes, to the Pentagon, to the fall of the Twin Towers, to the train bombing in Spain, to everything happening in the Middle East, to where we are now with the bombings in London.

I remember the Twin Towers falling like it was yesterday. I was sitting in school, during religion class (I attended a Catholic school for 12 years) when the news broke out over the loud speaker. The TV's were turned on so we could watch. Looking out the windows of the school, you could see ashes and debris lightly falling. My town is only a mere 45 minutes at the most from where the towers fell. My area was greatly affected. People around were terror stricken.

I remember leaving school early that day, although we hadn't had an early dismissal. My parents just wanted to make sure my brother and I were home safely. I remember sitting out in my yard staring up at the sky and just watching. It was so warm and sunny, and the birds chirped all around. I live right across from an airport, and for days, every time the planes moved, it freaked me out.

What is happening in London is just as terrifying. I have family, and a friend whose family has been staying in London together for some time now. It was a relief to receive a call Thursday morning knowing that they were all okay.

What is our world coming to? We are being bombed and threatened. What is all this for? Why are they doing this? I don't know. I just wish for an answer. Does it affect you? I think it affects us all, it's our history and we're living it. With terrorist attacks, wars, treaties, protests, past presidents, issues, worldwide problems all behind us, and many more in the future, this is the world we're living and the history we're making.

To me, it's what an old history teacher told me, "History is nothing more than a written reconstruction and interpretation of the past, written the way it's believed to happen. But who really says what history is. It's stories turned to facts only if you care to believe them."
