On my wrist is a black rubber bracelet that reads MUSIC = LIFE . These bracelets can be purchased at you local Hot Topic store. The bracelets are one dollar and the money goes to Hot Topic???s Music foundation, which is trying to keep music programs in schools.
Music has always been a part of my life, from when I was little girl trying to sing along to Britney Spears or to now where I sing in concerts and play instruments. Though my taste in music has changed drastically, I still LOVE it. I wear my bracelet proudly and never take it off.
But this article is not about these little bracelets. It's about something that enrages me to a further extent. There are mothers out there that have formed an organized group called M.A.H.R (Mothers Against Hard Rock). These mothers are petitioning to ban Alternative Rock across 45 states in America. These bands include The Used, My Chemical Romance, From First To Last, Atreyu, Avenged Sevenfold, Darkest Hour and many more.
I am not only against this because I love rock, but also because of freedom of speech. These bands write music to show their emotions and express themselves in ways words alone can't describe. Also if it's the messages the music is sending that bothers M.A.H.R., then they should realize that Rap and Pop songs often have very similar meanings.
If you have problem with Rock, then don't listen to it; if you don't want you kids to, then don't let them. But banning it from the country goes too far. We should have the choice to listen to what we want to, so don't let them take that away.
