Why am I so confused about how to get a plot on Whyville?

I know you Whyvillians reading this think I could be weird (it sounds like I don't know how to go to the land office, but I do). However, me and other Whyvillians go to the land office just to hear Bob say, "I'm so sorry, but we're fresh out of plots. . .A few plots open up on Wednesday, around 4 pm Whyville time, so please come back then!" I become really disappointed to hear that message, but in order to get a plot, I have to do that.

So, every week I'll go back to the Myville Land Office at exactly 4 o'clock pm. When I get there, I get a message saying that a few plots are available. I look in every neighborhood just to find nothing there. I go back to the main office and Bob says he's fresh out of plots! I get so frustrated. I can never get a plot like I want to in my future (I'll never get one at this rate).

I can look up people's City Records and see they have a house on a plot, but why don't I?

It could either be from too many people waiting to get a plot at the office or some Whyvillians with multiple accounts buy plots for all of them, which isn't fair. People should just have one main plot they can go to.

I just have to realize that there are limited amounts of plots and so many Whyvillians want one, including me.

I hope someday Whyville will be able to allow more plots to be taken by the people who need one, so everyone could have one. Just a thought, hoping to become real.

A response from City Management:

Dear mp3matt,

We understand that it must be terribly frustrating for citizens trying to get plots on Whyville. We'd love to give everyone a plot, but we just don't have the resources to do so.

The truth of the matter is, Whyville just doesn't have enough space to give everyone a plot. When we say 'space,' we mean computer space. Computers cost us a lot of money. If we want more space to give out more plots, we'll need more money.

So for the time being, only a handful of plots become available each week. Many City Workers have given up their plots already just so that citizens can have a chance. You'll have to be quick to try and snatch one up.

I hope this helps you understand our situation a little better. Keep trying and good luck!
