Well now, did you know that Whyville really does help with education?
First of all, I'd like to start off this article by saying, "Thank you Whyville!" and "Thank you to the City Workers and everyone who works with and on Whyville's site to keep it an educational, fun and exciting site for all." You are very much appreciated by those of us who come on Whyville to learn and chat with other Whyvillians. All your hard work has paid off!
Now to explain . . . A while back, I participated in the Solstice Safari. This actually turned out to be a very great experience for me. We learned about the hours and minutes of each day and how it changed with the movement of the sun. If you can get into the Solstice Safari, take time to learn about it and how it works. You will never regret all of the valuable knowledge that you learned!
So a few months later, I had to do a math project for my Math 30 Pure course (in Alberta, Canada). It so happened that my project was based on what I learned in the Solstice Safari. You can imagine the look that was on my face when I found this out. Due to the knowledge that I had learned, combined with the knowledge that I learned in my math course, I was able to complete the project. Feeling pretty good about what I had submitted to my teacher, I waited patiently for a mark to come back.
Since I cyber school, meaning I do my school on the computer and send it back to the teacher that way, I knew that I could be waiting awhile for my mark. Well it turned out that it didn't take as long as I thought it would. When I opened up the e-mail with the mark in it, I just jumped for joy. I received a 90% on the assignment!
So I say thank you again to the City Workers who have worked to put this site together. I also encourage you as Whyvillians to check out the different games around Whyville. Play the games, and ask questions to any of our wonderful y-mail helpers (or even any experienced Whyvillian that is here on the site) if you do not understand how to play a game.
