A lot of you have just started Middle School . . . and unfortunately, that's pretty much were drama starts! If one thing happens, in the time it takes to pass to second period, half the grade knows! It's fun to enter a new school or start Junior High, but you should be prepared for what may happen.

Rumors: This is the main thing that will happen. Rumors -- no they aren't fun. Some people get suspended for it! One thing happens, and then someone tells their friend and their friends tell someone else twisting the story a little bit. Then that friend twists the story again and eventually the real thing has something to do with a monkey! Okay, maybe not the monkey, but it gets completely changed around. I've had rumors spread about most of my friends.

Peer Pressure: Peer pressure is tough! Someone may say, "Want a cigarette? It's your best friend!" You might not know what to say. Trust me, 99% of the time, they could care less if you wanted it! It may just be a friendly offer, but would you like to ruin your life?

Reputations: This kind of annoys me. I don't care what people think. They can say my parents are clowns from Venus and I wouldn't care. People don't dress the way they want to, instead they have to be a part of a group: Goth, Prep, Punk, Emo, these are all stereotypes! I am against stereotyping and labeling.

Then there are the people that try to be different. I have a problem with a few of these people. They dress in ridiculous clothes, trying to make a "fashion statement," but really, they just look foolish. This goes for Whyville too! Dress the way you want to, not because you want others to think of you in a good or bad way.

Boyfriends/Girlfriends: It's okay to have a boyfriend or girlfriend in Middle School. If you are 11, then that's a little bit too young, but if you really think you like someone then maybe they like you too! Just take my advice for this one, you may have a boyfriend, but you have friends too! You should spend time with your friends along with your boyfriend! Hey, even invite your boyfriend to go hang out with your friends.

Bullying: This is one thing I can't stand. Having a brother who was constantly bullied in Junior High School, I know a lot about this. He was beat up, harassed, and he had no friends. My parents pressed charges and now he is no longer bullied.

Then, a few years ago, back in 2001 or 2000, a kid actually committed suicide! You probably heard about it. In Meriden, CT, a boy was bullied and harassed. Later, he decided to kill himself. Nobody knew why until someone told the parent that he was bullied. His parents didn't know.

Junior High School can get pretty tough, and not only because of the school work, but you'll get through it.
