Well, after the tragic hurricane that struck New Orleans, I decided to write an article about hurricane and tornado safety.

I know it isn't tornado season, but I decided to add tornado safety along with this because sometimes hurricanes spawn tornadoes.

Hurricane Safety

Know what a Hurricane Watch and a Hurricane Warning is:
-WATCH: Hurricane conditions are possible in the specified area of the WATCH, usually within 36 hours.
-WARNING: Hurricane conditions are expected in the specified area of the WARNING, usually within 24 hours.

Make sure you have these supplies ready:
-Battery powered radio and/or TV
-Enough food and water for three days
-Candles, Battery Powered flashlight, Matches, Lighter
-Extra Batteries

Tornado Safety

-Watch: Tornado predicted. Head indoors and watch for warning signs.
-Warning: Tornado is spotted in your area. Take shelter underground or in the center of a building. Never stay near windows.

Have these supplies ready:
-Battery Powered radio or TV
-Water and food
-Candles and flashlights
-Batteries
-Blankets, Pillows or even mattresses to cover yourself with to protect from debris.

Even during a thunderstorm, stay away from metal objects, and watch for additional warnings.

Maybe this article saves lives?
