Hey, Maglina here. The big news in Whyville right now is the Senate Race! Who's going to be our next senator that will help support Whyville? Unfortunately, I don't have the answer to that, but I do know that we get to help our favorite candidate win by voting! However, it's hard to read all three of their platforms, and choose. I know it is for me. Well, fret no more! I interviewed RyRy, BeeZD, and Andy109, so maybe this voting process will become easier for us.
Malina: How long have you been on whyville?
Andy109: I've been on Whyville since April of 2000. =)
Maglina: Why do you want to be senator?
Andy 109: Two big reasons. 1) Past senators, (not all of them, mind you. :D) have appeared to be elected, then just sit there and few really important changes have been made. I believe I have the ability to change that, and become an active senator. Another reason, I've been on Whyville since 2000, and I've seen our City change. I want to put this experience to good use. I want to help Whyville through a better brighter future. :)
Maglina: Can you give me a couple of ideas that you are really proud of and determined to be put into action?
Andy109: Hmm. One idea I really want to push is Automated Help-Desk - basically a database of questions that Newbies can look through - because honestly, as a Y-Mail helper, I've answered the same questions over and over. Evidently newbies don't know where to look for help. I think we need a really obvious page where questions can be answered without taking time away from Y-Mail Helpers; and away from Newbies who have to wait for replies. Also, not unlike previous Senate meetings that have been held - I want to create weekly/biweekly Senator Forums held in the Greek Theatre, planned events where people can make suggestions or ask questions. There have been meetings before, and I think they were great ideas - and now that we have a calendar and a theatre, we can really start getting the community involved.
Maglina: How do you feel about the competition?
Andy109: I don't personally know RyRy, but I've become good friends with BeeZD throughout the campaign, and I know she's a really great person and although we're still competeting, I know that if either of us win, we'll be happy. =)
Maglina: How dedicated do you think you will be to whyville if you become senator?
Andy109: I'm actually already very dedicated to Whyville as a Y-Mail Helper - I'm online almost everyday, unless I've an essay to write. :( But honestly, I do feel that many senators haven't really dedicated much time. During the campaign, I even recieved a y-mail from someone gawking at me for particpating in "pretend politics". What I want to do, is show the Whyville community, that there are those of us who take the election seriously. I really do want to participate in Whyville deciison making. I really do want to hear what people say, and I really do want to help actions be taken.
Maglina: How long have you been on Whyville?
BeeZD: I've been a part of Whyville since early 2000, although this account was made in 2001 :O)
Maglina: Why do you want to be Senator?
BeeZD: I want to become Senator because this is a great experience. The whole package, creating a platform, being in the top 3, the debate I know will be especially exciting.. Everything! I also want to be able to help pay Whyville back for what it has given me these 5 years.
Maglina: Can you give me a couple of ideas that you are really proud of and determined to be put into action?
BeeZD: I'm proud of all my ideas. Afterall, they not only come from myself, but also from other Whyvillians. For them to be put into action, I guess I'll have to win the Senate race, and discuss them with city hall. Even if I am not elected Senator, it's very possible Andy, or somebody else will suggest these ideas. I am a whyvillian, too, aren't I? And Senators are supposed to take ideas from their fellow Whyvillians. as well as their own.
Maglina: If you become senator, how dedicated do you think you will be to Whyville?
BeeZD: Honestly.. I come on Whyville every day, unless I've procrastinated and need to finish a project for school. Since I'm here everyday, that isn't going to change whether I become Senator or not.
Maglina: How long have you been on Whyville?
RyRy: I have been on Whyville for 4, almost 5 years now.
Maglina: Why do you want to be Senator?
RyRy: I want to be Senator so the people's voices can be heard. I know my platform doesn't explain much, sorry.
Maglina: Give me a couple of ideas that you are really proud of, and determined to be put into actio.
RyRy: I am proud of my idea to bring back life time passes. I am also proud of my idea to get the games fixed.
Maglina: How do you feel about the competition?
RyRy: I feel the competition is great and both of my competitors are great candidates.
Maglina: If you become senator, how dedicated do you think you will be?
RyRy: If I became Senator, I would be 100% dedicated. I come on every day and try to keep up with the events
I hope this interview has made your decision easier on voting for your favorite candidate. Of course, if you're like me, you'll have a darn tootin' tough time.
