Here is the transcript from the Senate Debate that was held this past Wednesday, October 26. The debate was hosted by scyllaCat and was attended by each of the candidates, Andy109, BeeZD, and RyRy. Read the candidates' answers carefully and use this information to help you decide who you should vote for. As always, please remain appropriate in your responses in the BBS.

scyllaCat : hey all!
scyllaCat : Due to a scheduling conflict, CityHall won't be able to make the event.
scyllaCat : She says, "Good luck with the debates!" I'll be hosting
scyllaCat : Voting will open up some time next week.
scyllaCat : Our candidates tonight are, in alphabetical order: Andy109, BeeZD and RyRy.
scyllaCat : Thank you for being here tonight, candidates.
scyllaCat : And thanks to the audience for showing up!

scyllaCat : Let's have a brief opening statement from each. Andy 109 - why don't you start us off?
Andy109 : Wow, that was sudden. =) What do I say? hahah =)
Andy109 : Well, you know, during this race I've become good friends with both BeeZD and RyRy - and I just want to let you know....
Andy109 : ...we all really would make great candidates, and it's that we can't all win. So, good luck, and thx to all!

BeeZD : I just want to thank everybody for giving me the chance to make
BeeZD : And good luck to Andy109 and Ryry, this senate race has definitely been a good one so far :)

RyRy : Okay, well I just want to say, Andy and BeeZD, you rock, and this competition has been amazing.
RyRy : I think you are both amazing candidates and if you win, I will support you all the way.
RyRy : Also, thank you all for coming! ROCK ON!
RyRy : Oh and one more thing, I am sorry my platform was so short, I have a new one being published

scyllaCat : What good sports!
scyllaCat : Let's start with a question to each candidate...
scyllaCat : You all have a lot of ideas for improving Whyville.
scyllaCat : BeeZD - you're up first (dart!)

BeeZD : It's hard to pick just one because they are all ways to improve whyville, however
BeeZD : If I HAD to pick jsut ONE, I would say a delete button for the mail.
BeeZD : it would affect everybody, not just a select few like something to do with the face factory.
BeeZD : And it would be put to good use, saving a lot of time, so you don't have to click over 200 box's :)

scyllaCat : You all have a lot of ideas for improving Whyville. If you had to pick one, which one would it be and why? RyRy?
RyRy : Okay, I have many ideas, but if I had to pick just one it would have to be bringing back lifetime passes.
RyRy : Probably for like two weeks so we can all get a chance to buy one. Thanks.

scyllaCat : ok andy - ur turn
Andy109 : Okay, well, if you saw me whispering - it's because I was stumbling on coming to a decision on my "favorite" idea.
Andy109 : But, you know what - We really shoudl make sure that the old games don't get left behind.
Andy109 : There are people who want to get their salaries as high as possible, but the games like the Sun Spot, and one of the S..
Andy109 : pin game items just don't reward you. :) I mean, it's silly - but I'm knitpicky like that (Wow, how DO you spell that?)

scyllaCat : OK - let me hit you each with a specific question.
scyllaCat : RyRy - tell us about your 'Housing Improvement' ideas
RyRy : Okay well, I really want the whole adding people to your house thing to change.
RyRy : I think that you should be given the choice if you want to move in with the person or not.
RyRy : Many people are being added to Why homes that they do not want to.
RyRy : I also think that you should be able to leave a house if you want. Also, the bricks are a LITTLE messed up. lol thanks!

scyllaCat : Andy109 - tell us about your 'Finding Sponsors' ideas
Andy109 : Okay - for one, there is such a diverse group of people, that some of us MUSt have those, "inside connections", y'know?
Andy109 : And if one person can make a difference, by writing letters, or talking to people - they can completely bring new life..
Andy109 : .. to Whyville. Basically, it's rewarding someone enormously, for all the new things they'll add to the City.
Andy109 : I'm not sure if there are any other questions about them? Feel free to whisper me while BeeZD goes next. :)

scyllaCat : BeeZD - tell us about some of your ideas for improving the Times.
BeeZD : I believe that if there is a "Article of the week" and such, this will help motivate people to write for the times, and
BeeZD : also, encourage them to show their "writers voice." Each week, the article could be a different topic- poems, essays etc
BeeZD : It's much like the Whyvillian in the Spotlight, I suppose. In some ways, being it shows some of the dedicated/new writer

Andy109 : Okay, well, to BeeZD- =D
Andy109 : How do you plan on "limiting accounts"? There's been a lot of people worried about things like, if they have siblings...
Andy109 : ... on the same computer, and all that jazz. I'm sure you've been asked questions about it in your BBS. Could you give..
Andy109 : ...give us some insight into that idea, of yours? =)
BeeZD : You see, one of the most importent parts about being a Senator is listening to fellow Whyvillians...
BeeZD : And I have been told, in Whymail, my BBS and in chat, that the majority of Whyville is not in favor of this idea.
BeeZD : And, therefore, I have decided that I am going to drop this idea, seeing as it would only make few citizens happy.

RyRy : Wow this should be interesting...
Andy109 : Hmmm. Sure. =)
Andy109 : RyRy, we're both interested in bring back Liftime Passes. I'd just like to know what you plan to do with people who....
Andy109 : .....already own one month/ eight month passes? =)
RyRy : Well, I know people payed good money for those passes
RyRy : I think that the money they payed should go toward their lifetime pass payment.
scyllaCat : So how much would you charge for a Lifetime Pass?
RyRy : I would say lifetime passes might cost around 40 to 50 dollars(US) and there could be like a donation center.
scyllaCat : Andy109: 8 month passes are 30
RyRy : Since I know Whyville needs all the support they can get.
Andy109 : scyllaCat: Thanks, I've always coveted one, but never actually dared to see how much they cost. :)

RyRy : PARENTS SHOULD NOT HAVE TO PAY FOR THE PASSES PEOPLE, YOU SHOULD SAVE IT!

BeeZD : First, I have one for Andy
BeeZD : In your platform, you suggested reestablishing the "warn." How will you keep people from over using this tool?
Andy109 : Alright, well I am aware that it has been abused in the past.
Andy109 : Sorry, that's warn*
Andy109 : ... re-inactment of the Safety Patrol. I think it would be fair for Safety Patrol members to have access to the warn. =)
scyllaCat : Ahhh, so not everyone gets the WARN ability?
Andy109 : I would LOVE to give everyone one warn a day - it would limit abuse - but they do leave hurtful Xs on faces.

BeeZD : You suggested making the face factory open for everybody.
BeeZD : This will take away a perk of getting a whypass, but also, it will cause strain on Whyville's servers. Have you..

RyRy : Okay, first of all, I just want to say, my platform was EXTREMELY short, and i am sorry.
RyRy : I didn't explain this...
scyllaCat : Updated platforms should appear in the Times by Sunday
RyRy : I have pondered the idea of the whole face factory thing and I think that EVERY whyvillian should be able to make one...
RyRy : part a week. This should not take up much server space and I know this idea is not very likely and has been knocked to
BeeZD : But there are a lot of whyvillians that will be eager to design, and still cause problems..?

RyRy : What if the whole saftey patrol thing got out of hand and they reported for no reason.
RyRy : Would there be a punishment for there actions?
Andy109 : Okay, well first of all, I would dfeinately hope that this wouldn't ever have to happen. Patrol members, similarily to..
Andy109 : .. Y-Mail Helpers, will have to apply under strict guidlines.
Andy109 : Hopefully, by submitting a mini-resume of sorts, or getting interviewed by CW/Other Members/Senators
Andy109 : Of course, if any abuse is being made by any Safety Patrol Member
Andy109 : They will be stripped of there position immediately. It's only fair, eh? =)

RyRy : Okay, so BeeZD, I don't really have much to ask but, do you think that the Good Citizen award should start again?
BeeZD : Yes, as stated in my platform. I believe that this will encourage people to be kind and supportive in whyville
BeeZD : which will make it a more positive community for everybody.
