A lot of people want to be photographers for the Times, but don't know how to take a picture of Whyville for it. Of course, taking pictures of Whyville is the point of Whyville photography, so they can't be a Whyville Photographer until they learn how to. They sometimes mail photographers to ask them how, and I know how annoying it is to explain it, so here I am writing this article!

Since I'm writing this as an article, people shouldn't be asking how to for a while. And those who do send photographers y-mails about how to, shouldn't get a reply because to write for the times, you should actually read the times.

The first step to this is to find the picture-perfect moment. If I was taking the picture I would prefer to say "earmuff" in the chatroom before taking the screenshot to block out whispers. Whispers can interfere with your shot, maybe blocking whatever you wanted to take a screenshot of. So I recommend saying "earmuff."

There are many things you could take screenshots of, from events like Meet the Makers, to costumes during Halloween! It's all about creativity. If you're taking pictures of an event, try to get the important moments in the photo. Also try to put captions in it so people know what's happening.

The next step is when you've found the picture-perfect moment, press the button "Print Screen." On some computers it turns out as "Prnt Screen." It is the button above "insert" and to the left of "scroll lock" on Dells. This will get a picture of your screen, (a screenshot) that will look something like this:

Next, open Microsoft Paint Program. After that, you can do two things. You can press "Ctrl+V" or go up to the Edit menu and choose "Paste." After that, press the select button on the side-screen. This will look a little like this:

After that, click on one of the corners of the thing you want to have in your picture, and drag it to the other corners. Press "Ctrl+C" (Copy), and then save it and -- bam -- you've got a picture. After, paste it into your email to the Times. The final product of the picture I used as an example for this article will probably look like this after all those steps:

Now isn't that better? I think so! Remember that you can use more of paints tools to make it more eye-catching. I'm going to go feed my cat.
