Hey everyone! I'v noticed that in previous BBS' that people have said that articles should be made about different holidays, not just Christmas. I myself, celebrate Christmas. But I wanted to know a little about a different holiday, I picked Hanukkah! So I interveiwed Chikki999 and asked her about Hanukkah and what you do. So, here we go!!

Xcbear2X: Can you tell us a little about Hannuka? (Did I spell it right?)
Chikki999:(1) It is spelled Hanukkah. LoL. Okay so anyways, a little bit about Hanukkah. Well we have a menorah, which is a candle stick that holds 9 candles. The middle candle is called the Shammus. It is used to light all the other candles. Hanukkah lasts 8 nights, so every night you light the candles depending on the number of days you have completed Hanukkah. The story was, that a long time ago, Jews didn't have enough oil for their menorah for the Temple. They had oil, but only enough to burn for one day. Miraculously, it burned for 8 nights, and 8 day festivals were considered miracles. So now we have Hanukkah! :D :D

(2) On Hanukkah we get one gift for every 8 days, and the traditional food is Latkas, which are potato pancakes. And there are games, like the Dreidel game, where you spin a thing tha'ts like a spinning top, and whatever Hebrew word it lands on, you do something with money. Like if it lands on Gimmel, you get all the money that was put in the pot. If you get Heh, you get half. If you get Shin, you have to put some in and on Nun you get nothing!
Xcbear2X: Sounds interesting!

After I interveiwd Chikki999, I decided I would look up information on Hanukkah, so here's what I found . . .

Hanukkah is a fun festival, especially for children. After lighting the Hanukkah candles together, families (and often invited guests) will eat and play games.

Traditional Hanukkah food is oil-rich in commemoration of the miracle of the oil that burned for eight days. Potato pancakes, latkas, are a Hanukkah favorite.

Dreidel, a traditional Hanukkah game, with game rules so simple that the whole family, from toddlers to grandparents can play together. The custom of giving Hanukkah gelt (money) to children has evolved into a gift-giving tradition in many Jewish families today.

Hanukkah last 8 days. There is also 8 candles on the menorah. The 8 days and 8 candles represent the 8 days that the oil burned. So every night you light a candle representing a day.

Wow, my fingers are hurting now xP. Well, I hope you liked my article!
