A haiku is a short poem, usually about nature. But here's the tricky part: It's only three lines, and there have to be a certain amount of syllables in each one.

For example:

I hear wind outside (5 syllables)
The day is long and pretty (7 syllables)
The clouds are clearing (5 syllables)

You see, a haiku (by the way, it's pronounced high-kuu) has 5 syllables in the first line, 7 in the second, and 5 again in the last line. This is a great way to pass some time.

But you know, it doesn't have to be about nature. It could even be about what you eat for lunch! So be creative and say whatever you like. Then, show your family and friends! :)
