With February fast approaching, people everywhere are dreading the forever dubbed, "Single Awareness Day," more formerly known as Valentine's Day, a conspiracy holiday created by the greeting card and candy industry. This is a day that honors couples, marriages, and love.

However, for those of us that happen to be single, it ends up being a day to hook up with the world's greatest guys -- Ben & Jerry. And as you drown your single sorrows in a pint of mint chocolate chip, a minimal amount of the world is out there having fun with their significant other.

Don't let that happen to you. There are so many better ways to spend Valentine's day! Who cares if you're single? You shouldn't, that's for sure. I'm here to tell you this:

There is nothing wrong with being single.

Why buy in and endorse the flower companies? Why allow Hallmark to manipulate you into thinking that you have to buy one of those absolutely adorable cards with the big-eyed-puppy on it? Because it's a national holiday? Honey, get a better excuse to spend your money.

Instead, get together with some friends and instead of downing four bowls of ice cream yourself, let them have some of it too. Watch a movie. Go play ping pong. Play laser tag. Build a tree house. Make prank phone calls. Anything, just don't leave yourself feeling down. It's completely unnecessary.

And remember, "Don't worry so much about falling in love because in fairy tales they don't find each other 'til the last page."
