Yes, Senate race time is here, and we've all chosen someone to vote for! I, myself, am running for Senator, anyway, this isn't about that, it's actually about platforms. You'd be surprised at some people's platforms.
Well, first, to platforms. I'm going to list a few platforms and tell what's wrong about them. Don't worry, I'll erase the names, but I still will criticize them. Here's one near the bottom:
"A WHYVILLE NEWS THEY SHOULD HAVE A WHYVILLE RADIO STATION WHERE WHYVILLE CITIZENS CAN CALL IN AND HEAR THEM SELFS ON THE COMPUTER OR EVEN A TV SHOW! WHYVILLE PEOPLE SHOULD HAVE MORE GAMES TO PLAY TO WIN MORE CLAMS BIGGER STAKES MEAN BIGGER SMILES! WHYVILLE CITIZENS SHOULD BE ABLE TO OWN SOME OF THE EVENTS LIKE THE ARIPORT AND THE THEATER SO THEY CAN EARN CLAMS FROM THEIR BUSINESSES! bY DOING THIS WE MAKE HAPPIER CITIZENS WITH MORE CLAMS AND MORE FUN!"
This platform isn't so good. First, the writer didn't introduce themselves. Second, they put ideas that'll never happen, such as the radio show. Some of the ideas are good, but they lack detail and, may I say it, correct grammar. You shouldn't have to use caps lock to get people's attention. This platform is also short. For another:
"If you vote me for senator i will add more rooms in whyville like a skaterrink, pool where u can go swimming,and lots more games so u can have a better salary"
This one is definitely the smallest Senator platform I've seen so far in this race, and the worst. Platforms should have introductions, be longer than like two or three lines, not use chat speak and things like that. Who wants to waste clams for things like that? On to another:
"Please vote for me i will help whyville alot i will do whatever i can to make YOU people happy if u vote for me i will make ur time on whyville better so please vote for me"
This platform is really short, and doesn't have any ideas. It doesn't even deserve one vote. There's nothing else to say. To ANOTHER lol.
"If u vote 4 me i will band whyeat make Bigger chat rooms when U start u get 100k and why pass is clams not money If u vote 4 me and also delete acconts that were on whyville 4 1999 and dont go on whyville no more so vote 4 me as ur new sentior of whyville!!!!!!!!!! "
This platform is horrible. It uses chat speak, and bad spelling. It has unrealistic ideas, such as the Whypass for clams idea, and the 100k when you join idea. People would just make accounts to get that much. And if they deleted accounts from 1999 people could become impostors of other people. Oh and, if you're running for senator, spell senator right.
"If you vote for me for senator i will make whyville a better place. these are the tyhings i would like to bring back or add to whyville 1. lifetime whypasses 2. the old auction room 3. a church! 4. being able to make copywrite material in the face factory 5. chess on whyville if you vote for me i will make whyville a better place "
This isn't a good platform either, and it has bad ideas, such as a church. There are many people with different religions on Whyville, and having just a church would be wrong, and racist even. Being able to copyright material in the face factory I don't really understand. Would people copyright their face parts so they couldn't be remade? That'd cause some server problems. Or, does it mean that akbar should accept copyrighted materials like Elmo? Well if it's the second one, you'd only put that in your platform if you want Whyville to be sued. Don't worry, this is the second to last last platform I'll put in:
"Hi! I am a peace maker, but im no hippy. I am against war, fighting is never the answer. I am against racism and cheating. I will not make other accounts to vote for myself. Do not call people names!!! TREAT PEOPLE THE SAME WAY YOU WOULD LIKE TO BE TREATED!!"
I can't say everything that's wrong with this platform, there are too many things. It doesn't even seem like a platform . . . that's how bad it is. It has no ideas, and just gives a message. Actually, I've change my mind for the worst platform in the article:
"the face factory should be free and not busy all the time and down whith whyeats "
I can't say what's wrong with this without writing another article on it, LOL! Anyway, I wasn't even halfway though the platforms by this one. Just remember, make your platforms worth reading?
