Intense. Exciting. Mysterious. These words all describe the Nancy Drew books. This series is written by Carolyn Keene, who is a nation-wide praised author of over 50 books. Although they were written a while ago, Nancy, Bess and George (the main characters) are pretty up-to-date.

Nancy Drew, a strawberry blonde amateur detective, lives in River Heights. She is well known in her town for her sleuthing. Raised by her family's housekeeper, Hannah Gruen, Nancy's mother died when she was only three. Now eighteen, the smart teenager loves to solve a good mind-boggling mystery, some right in her hometown and some taking her out of the country. With the help of her father, lawyer Carson Drew, Nancy always manages to find herself engaged in yet another job! Her two best friends, George Fayne and Bess Marvin, are never far behind. Not to mention her boyfriend Ned Nickerson, who is always ready at a moment's notice to save her from an enemy!

George is a tomboy with a love for sports and a daring personality always ready for adventure! She is proud of her boyish name, even though she is often teased about it by her cousin and friend Bess. Bess is a slightly plump, food loving, fashion guru type of girl. Unlike George, she is the scaredy-cat of the trio. Even when she tries to hold back from a mysterious event, her curiosity gets the best of her and she trails behind Nancy and George nervously.

These books, all 56 of them, will keep you on the edge of your seat! They are a great mystery series, and I would recommend them to any teen/preteen girl.

Going to the library for number 35
