This article is about one of the worst things imaginable, divorce. Seventy percent of Americans are divorced or have parents who are divorced. This is very tragic since not only do the families break up, but the children are affected greatly.
The main thing to remember if your parents get divorced is that it is not your fault, by any means. Don't get yourself worked up thinking you had something to do with your parents splitting up or else your life will be a wreck. Trust me, my parents are divorced.
When I first heard that my parents were getting divorced, I did not know what to do. I was 11. I had no clue what was going on and would lock myself in my room when my parents started fighting. So, we went through two years of living in the same house and all the fights before my parents were officially divorced. I heard that I was going to have to live with my dad and only see my mom every other weekend. I freaked. I went around the house jumping and screaming and making a mess of everything. This is not the way to handle things, trust me, it's not worth the pain (or the grounding for breaking stuff).
In the end, I live my life today loving both my parents and everything seems to be well now. I look back thinking, hey, this is not such a bad thing after all. My parents don't have to live their lives in misery and neither do I. I thank God for all I have.
Well, this is RyRy signing off on another important topic.
