Dumb blonde. Have you ever heard anyone use that label? You probably have. I for one, have heard that term thousands of times, mostly in dumb blonde jokes.

Have you ever heard a dumb blonde joke? They are horrible. Dumb blonde jokes are basically saying that blondes are stupid. Is this true? Absolutly not!

I am actually a blonde in real life, and I can tell you that I am not stupid! In fact, I get pretty good marks in most subjects. So why do people think they are? Why not pick on brunettes? What I heard was that "dumb blonde" came from a dating term. Girls who didn't have blonde hair were always jealous of blondes because men loved blonde women! Have you ever heard the phrase, "Blondes have more fun?" When they say fun, dating is what they meant. But brunettes and red heads and other hair colors can do all that stuff too right? Right!

Why else are blondes picked on? Many people get the impression that blondes are ditzy. People think that when blondes are around men, they will let a man do whatever he wants to her. That isn't true at all. I can't even think of a ditzy blonde except for the ones we see on TV like Paris Hilton, Jessica Simpson, or Britney Spears . . . some of the women we see on TV are actually pretending to be ditzy!

The other day at school, a girl in my class told a dumb blonde joke. It went something like this:

Q: How do you drown a blonde?

A: You put a scratch and sniff card at the bottom of the pool.

I find that one extremely offensive and not funny in any way! I'm sure many of you, blonde or not, find that offensive too. I don't think any one is that stupid as to try to breathe underwater. No one! Well maybe a little kid, but that's not really stupid because they don't really know what that would do. There are a lot more dumb blonde jokes out there about survival, jobs, school, children, animals, men, even some sexual ones!

Blonde jokes are over exaggerated. Blondes are not that stupid, and they do not object themselves, as many blonde jokes are telling us. Almost all of the blondes in my school are super smart. My friend Leorah gets straight A's in math and science. My friend Jane is excellent at phys-ed and health and she is great at English. Scarlette is at the top of our class in French. All those people are blonde. I am blonde too, and like I said before, I am not stupid!

Have you ever seen the movie Legally Blonde? It is one of my all time favorites. The main charactor in the movie Elle Woods (Reese Witherspoon) is a rich blonde woman. She is your stereotypical Paris Hilton, of course dressed in pink with a tiny chiuahuah, but she is not stupid in any way. Especially at the end, which is my favorite part of the movie. She acts really smart and shows people she is not a ditzy blonde object. She even slaps away one of her male teachers who try to make the move on her. I am glad someone thought of a movie like this. It really made me smile because this movie teaches people a lesson: not all blondes are stupid!

There are not smart people in this world -- some are blonde, but not all. Some are brunette, some have red hair, some have auburn hair, dirty blonde, cherry oak, etc. The blonde jokes could be the same with any other hair color, but instead let's just not be racist -- err . . . "hairist" against hair color, shall we? Wait, scratch that. Let's not judge the actual people by their hair color. Your stereotypical blonde may be ditzy and stupid but stereotypes are not always right.

To make my article complete, I decided to see what other people's opinions were! I first interviewed Nycshane.

NYCShane: Just one moral about it, don't judge a book by it's cover, it's primitive, insulting, and idiotic.
Annie000: In real life, are you blonde?
NYCShane: I guess you could say that.

NYCShanne: Not a majority, but a pretty noticable percentage are.

NYCShane: Heh, not too much, but still, we shouldn't tell them.

NYCShane: No.

Annie000: What are your opinions about dumb blonde jokes?
Jtorrence: I think that they are kind of offensive but can be funny. Most of the time when I tell a dumb blonde joke, I choose a hair color that no one in the room has.
Annie000: In real life, are you blonde?
Jtorrence: Yes I am, and I do admit, I can be really stupid and ditzy, lol but not a lot of the time.
Annie000: Do you think the majority of blondes are like your stereotypical Paris Hilton-type blonde?
Jtorrence: Omg, no way! I don't know blondes (except for like one or two) who are like that.

Jtorrence: I am a lot of the time

Jtorrence: No.

Annie000: In real life, are you blonde?
Luxy98: Yes I am.
Annie000: Do you think the majority of blondes are like your stereotypical Paris Hilton-type blonde?
Luxy98: No definitely not. I have known a lot of blonde people and very few of them turned out to be airheads. The truth is that there are just as many Paris Hilton-type brunettes as there are blondes, if not more.
Annie000: Are you offended by dumb blonde jokes?
Luxy98: Not really. Mostly because I know they're not true, and because I know that I'm smarter than half the people telling the jokes in the first place, so it's no skin off my back. ;)
Annie000: Any last comments about dumb blonde jokes?
Luxy98: People seem to wait until a blonde has a momentary lapse of stupidity to make them fit into the stereotype, but the tables could just as easily be turned on red heads for example, everyone gets a little out of it once and a while. It's just a form of entertainment to people.

CurlyQ878: Well I think some of them are funny, but being blonde I think some of them are mean.

CurlyQ878: Yes I am a proud blonde in real life, and on Whyville too. :)

CurlyQ878: Of course not all blondes are blonde ditzy Paris Hilton's. Just like all people with black hair aren't goth, but yeah some blondes are like that but that's the way they are. But there are lots of smart blondes.

CurlyQ878: Some blonde jokes do offend me but not all of them.

CurlyQ878: I think that some people go way to far with the jokes, and stereotypes are given which is not fair

I am sorry I couldn't find anyone who liked blonde jokes a lot. But my point is, and I probably said this more than five times in the article, blondes aren't stupid! You can go on telling blonde jokes if you really like them, I am not stopping anyone, but don't over use them with disgusting and horrible ideas. Thanks!
