Hello Citizens of Whyville. As you may know, the Tator heads have all been turned into Bluebies. Though most of you find this idea to be hilarious, some citizens are not as easily convinced that these heads are better than the old peach ones. This article I am writing is to help explain why the heads are blue.

To start things off, ever since I received the title of Senator, I have been getting y-mails saying "The Tator heads are racist! They're all white!" or something similar to that. One of these mails came with a suggestion that Whyville should have a system where Newbies can pick their own Tator color. Believing this to be a good idea, I mailed Scyllacat with this suggestion only to receive the following reply:

Scylla: If we let a newbie choose their face color, we'd have to actually build a new interface that presents the newbie with various choices. Frankly, since newbs only have these faces for a day or so (because they use their clams and Grandma's parts to build a new face quickly), the work required to set this up doesn't seem worth it. Even randomly distributing face colors would take programming time. In any case, I'll try and bring this up at a CW meeting and see if the group thinks the time spent changing this would be worth it. NOTE: if we do change it, I'm going to strongly suggest to the other CWs that the colors of the faces be randomly assigned. Let me know what you think.

ScyllaCat is right. Tator faces are not worth extra server space. Still, randomly assigned Tator color would cost extra server space. While looking through SNUGABUG's store, I realized that it might be more beneficial to have Tators in a color that looks nothing like anyone's facial color. I mailed Scyllacat with this idea and said, "Make them blue or something," which resulted in this reply:

Scylla: Oh yeah, beware of what you ask for, you just might get it! All I'm saying is you might start seeing 'bluebies'. ;)

As you all see now, the Tator heads are blue. I'm sorry if they do not agree with the color you might have chosen (as some people were kind enough to tell me), but pink and yellow are already Y-eat colors and green makes someone look ill. Please understand that the old system was nice, but we want to avoid controversy, therefore resulting in Bluebies.
